C\u2019est le recul qui nous fait appr\u00e9cier nos r\u00e9alisations de l\u2019ann\u00e9e pour sauter avec enthousiasme dans la suivante. Nous ancrons nos apprentissages. Nous cultivons la gratitude et nous identifions ce qui est important pour nous. Ce sont des moments de r\u00e9flexion focalis\u00e9e et de consolidation globale. L&#8217;auteur d\u00e9finit le downtime comme un temps d\u2019arr\u00eat de l\u2019esprit o\u00f9 nous n\u2019avons aucun but pr\u00e9cis, o\u00f9 nous ne nous concentrons pas pour r\u00e9soudre un probl\u00e8me, o\u00f9 nous ne tentons pas de comprendre comment telle nouvelle information pourrait nous aider dans la recherche d\u2019une solution, etc.<\/p><p>Il faut savoir que notre cerveau est compos\u00e9 de deux r\u00e9seaux neuronaux qui ne peuvent s\u2019activer en m\u00eame temps : le r\u00e9seau ex\u00e9cutif central et le r\u00e9seau du \u00ab mode par d\u00e9faut \u00bb. Lorsque nous portons notre attention sur une t\u00e2che, par exemple, c\u2019est le r\u00e9seau ex\u00e9cutif central qui est aux commandes. Inversement, lorsque nous sommes au repos, en \u00ab errance mentale \u00bb (mind-wandering) ou dans nos pens\u00e9es, le r\u00e9seau du \u00ab mode par d\u00e9faut \u00bb s\u2019affaire.
